If you’re one of those people that thinks Internet dating doesn’t work (or for that matter, that it is for desperate people), I have an interesting anecdote to share with you. The other night we were at this church function, and seated at our table were two other couples. We got to talking about realized all of us had met on Match.com. So that was six people who met their special someone that way, just at one table.

Now, I’m not saying Match.com is the only way to go. There are a lot of really great Internet dating sites. It turned out to be a coincidence that we all met using Match, but just about any of them are good, depending on your personality and what you’re looking for.

The people at our table included two very successful and well educated folks in the physical fitness industry (they did marathons for fun) and a couple very creative types who worked in marketing. None of them were ugly, stupid, or desperate. All of them said they simply hadn’t met the right person yet, which is what prompted them to try online dating. I’m with them, I thought online dating was great. Before I went online, I had been on dates set up by friends, I met people at work and in bars, but it wasn’t until I started Internet dating where I really felt like I was going to meet the right person for me. I knew it even before I did, just because of the amount of people I was meeting.
