Book Necklace
You know I love books, right? So when I saw this book pendant necklace I had to try it. In fact, I liked the project so much I started looking around the Bubble Gum and Duct Tape blog, and decided to interview the blogger, Maria Villanueva. Since I have a lot of book covers, I thought I’d make one of these for myself. I may make a few for my author pals once I practice this a little more. I haven’t made too many necklaces thus far and don’t know what I’m doing yet.
Anyways, Maria has the whole tutorial on her blog, but I’ll show you what I did. First, you have to cut up the tiny inside papers for your book. I used a piece of copy paper, and made them 1 inch by 3/4 inch.
Then, bind them in a clip.
And put hot glue on the “binding” part.
Then choose your cover. For fun, I chose the cover of my first book, The Difference Now. I printed off a copy of the cover, and then glued it to some scrapbook paper to make it more sturdy.
I glued everything, then punched a hole to attach the jewelry rings.
Then I attached a small pendant to the book.
And viola! Done. I used a black leather strap for the necklace.
I like that the book looks worn. I think next time I would use a different pendant and also a bigger hook. I may play with these a little more before I start making them for my pals. You know how it is the first time you do a project like this, there is always something you’d do a little differently next time.

I think it turned out super cute! I might have to give it a try.

Yes, give it a try. That lady gives the best instructions and it’s really easy to do.

I think it’s adorable exactly the way it is, although I’ve also got no doubt that you’ll make them even better in the future!

I love that you used one of your own book covers. This is darling!

Thanks, Eileen! I’m thinking of making one or two for a couple author friends too just for fun.
