For the Love of Cupcakes
I told you all about the cupcake craze I’ve been on, right? I adore making cupcakes. I like the fact that I can decorate each like a tiny little cake, or that I can pop one into my mouth for a small treat. I’ve always enjoyed cupcakes but the last couple years it seems like cupcakes have become really popular. I’m so obsessed that a month ago I dreamed about a cupcake game, and then I created it! My family and I even played it. I’m still trying to figure out how to sell or market it. More on that another time.
In the meantime, I caught a commercial last night that reaffirms my belief that cupcakes are totally in right now. It was for Cupcake Pebbles!
Cupcake Pebbles is billed as a “party in a box,” and I’m sure it is. I’m not really a fan of super sugary cereals, so I doubt I would eat it, but the concept of this really makes me wonder about how popular this cupcake thing has become.
I’m also a fan of the new TV show Cupcake Wars, which I totally want to be a judge on:
I make cupcakes pretty often. I play with flavors and try out recipes, and usually give them to my hubby to take to work the next day. One of my favorite recipes is this one for “Hi Hat Cupcakes.”
The cupcakes turn out really slick, with a rich chocolate cake, meringue top, and slick black coating over it all.
I’ve also been known to make cheesy cupcakes. No, they don’t have cheese in them, but they are super dorky and thus, perfect for everyone! I’ve talked about the rainbow cupcakes I made for a St. Patrick’s Day party:
The rainbow went with the theme. You know, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
For a 4th of July party this year I made cupcakes with red and blue frosting and schmaltzy toppings:
Everyone’s teeth were pink and blue during the party. It was awesome. I have a new recipe I’m trying out tonite for chocolate curry cupcakes. (My family loves curry – we’ll see how those turn out.)
Got a favorite cupcake recipe? Please share!
